The Best InsurTech Explainer Videos of 2022
(Including Our Own Shameless Self-Promotion ; )
Insurance is a big deal.
This is why so few insurance companies decide to use animations and instead go for more serious options.
But insurance companies are starting to realize that their products can be presented in a fun and accessible way without compromising the brand’s reputation. And the best way to insure a company against customers not understanding their product is with simplicity, and animation achieves just that.
Don’t believe us? Have a look for yourself at just five great examples we found…
Nuon AI
Nuon AI offers a revolutionary AI platform for insurance providers. It allows you to combine data and artificial intelligence to offer the best price points to your clients.
At Leon! Animations, we got the chance to work with Nuon AI to create an explainer animation describing their product. We went for an 80s-style retro animation featuring a bubbly voice-over to show that even regular folks can understand complicated insurance products.
This resulted in a charismatic explainer insurance video which the client raved about:
“Leon! really nailed the brief. The end result was a simple and engaging explainer video that perfectly summarises our product.”
— Catherine Loftus, Nuon AI
Tractable
Tractable is another company on our list that uses AI.
But what they do is like nothing else.
They use a vast database of pictures to help clients assess damages in vehicles and properties, cutting down the time needed for repairs from weeks to days - or even hours!
Because the product Tractable offers isn’t what people are used to, they had difficulty explaining it. Luckily, they did a great job, using jaw-droppingly beautiful animated transitions to explain their claims process simply and concisely.
Lemonade
Lemonade is a digital insurance company with a twist.
They insure things you always wished you could insure - just didn’t know where. From stuff to pet insurance, Lemonade proved they’re all about innovation.
Featuring hand-drawn black-and-white animation, with the occasional drop of Lemonade’s unique shade of pink, their artistic video is both playful and jovial.
It shows a young character representing Lemonade’s target audience in everyday situations they might need insurance but, until now, couldn’t get it anywhere.
DeadHappy
Did anybody say insurance has to be boring?
Not with DeadHappy!
With their outside-the-box approach to marketing, you can have a laugh and get your life insurance online within seconds. Just looking at their branding, you can tell they’re all about breaking stigmas, even playing with the concept of death.
Their animation features two characters, Mick and Tel, who serve as the faces of DeadHappy. Stylized as an old cartoon, this animation uses fun storytelling to show people how innovative insurance has become.
(Update: DeadHappy crossed the line recently.)
FloodFlash
Ever got flood insurance? Me neither.
But there are a lot of people (especially businesses) who need it. And there was a problem. The way flood insurance was usually paid out was based on the damages, which wasn’t always the best option. FloodFlush decided to change it and pay out insurance based on the water level so people could get money instantly and continue running their businesses.
With an idea so different from what people are used to, they created an animated explainer video describing their insurance model using minimalist line illustrations and a warm, friendly southern-US voice-over. They did a brilliant job using an explainer animation video to show their advantages without being too pushy.
